Happy Valentine’s Day Remembering Bill Compton

Valentine_Hearts-940071This past season on True Blood has been a really tough one for Bill lovers like ourselves.  By the end of season 5, it was difficult to find much to love about “Billith.”  However, we are not in despair and refuse to assume that Billith is all that’s left of our romantic, mainstreaming, gorgeous vampire, Bill Compton.

Therefore, we wish to remember him as we know he is, one who is unique among all the vampires because of his capacity for sympathy, kindness and generosity and we salute him on this day of “love.”

Two years ago, the Billsbabes showed their love to our favorite vampire, Bill Compton when the times were good and he was so easy to love. Since Valentine’s Day is upon us, we thought it would be nice to, once again, give Bill Compton our valentine. Of course, this requires that we ask Stephen Moyer to pass it on to Bill for us, but we’re pretty sure he will comply and, by default he gets some lovin’, too!

The video below that was created by ThelLou back between seasons 2 and 3, with some art direction from Lynnpd and Willkill4Bill, is the valentine we created for Bill Compton. The song you hear is “You Go To My Head” and is sung by the great Billie Holiday, To quote WillKill4Bill, “This song is so descriptive of how we feel for Bill that it could have been written for us, and after it was recorded by Billie Holiday, it should have been off limits for anyone else to record.

We hope you will enjoy it again and while you do, please think positive thoughts about Season 6 hoping for the Bill we know and love to return.

“You Go To My Head” is a 1938 popular song composed by J. Fred Coots with lyrics by Haven Gillespie. The song is highly regarded by jazz musicians and critics alike. Below are the lyrics:

You go to my head
You go to my head,
And you linger like a haunting refrain
And I find you spinning round in my brain
Like the bubbles in a glass of champagne.

You go to my head
Like a sip of sparkling burgundy brew
And I find the very mention of you
Like the kicker in a julep or two.

The thrill of the thought
That you might give a thought
To my plea casts a spell over me
Still I say to myself: get a hold of yourself
Can’t you see that it can never be?

You go to my head
With smile that makes my temperature rise
Like a summer with a thousand Julys
You intoxicate my soul with your eyes
Tho I’m certain that this heart of mine
Hasn’t a ghost of a chance in this crazy romance,
You go to my head.

Valentine_Hearts-940071The creation of this valentine was a team effort by WillKill4Bill, ThelLou and Lynnpd. Thanks to Willkill4Bill for her wonderful idea and to ThelLou for her fabulous creation of the video.

  1. oh my! You guys did a wonderful job with this. Loved the scratchy old time film look and placing it inside the “velvet curtains” was charming. Excellent song choice too.

    Happy Valentines Day everyone!

  2. This is lovely.  What a beautiful and nostalgic look back at our Bill.  Yes, I do remember seeing this.  Thank you, WillKill, Lou and Lynn for your marvelous collaboration.  I don’t hold out much hope for Bill in Season 6.  I hate the Billith transformation.  I hope I’m wrong about Bill’s journey, and that us Bill lovers will be happily surprised by his restoration to the vampire we’ve loved all through this series.  I’m sure we won’t see Season 1 Bill again, but if we could get close, I’d be satisfied.  *fingers crossed*

  3. Sigh!  I’m hopelessly devoted to that vampire!  Watching that incredibly gorgeous video and listening to that fabulous song just turned me into a puddle of love!
Thanks, ladies.  This is a masterpiece!  And so well done in the old-time moving picture style too!  Kudos to all of you!
