Things seems to be moving in the right direction for The Barrens, starring Stephen Moyer. Hopefully we’ll have some more news for you all soon about a (limited) theatrical release, because it seems that The Barrens is a must see for the phychological horror genre fans and not to mention Moyerists.
The production company of the film, the Empire Film & Entertainment Group, posted the following message on their Facebook page.
Just saw the theatrical version of THE BARRENS – it is absolutely amazing. It’s chilling, psychological, and crazy intense. Stephen Moyer puts in the absolute best acting performance in a horror film since Nicholson in “The Shining”. You will not be disappointed – if you are, you better make sure you didn’t die and just haven’t realized it yet.
Now that sure sounds promising! I am a big horror fan myself and am looking forward to see Stephen in this role.
The Barrens, set to be released this October, tells the story of Richard Vinyard (Stephen Moyer) who takes his wife, Cynthia (Mia Kirshner); their young son, Danny (Peter DaCunha); and his teenage daughter, Sadie (Allie MacDonald) to the more than 1 million acres of dense forest known as the New Jersey Pine Barrens, where he becomes convinced they’re being stalked by the legendary Jersey Devil. Richard falls ill, his headaches turn to hallucinations. The disfigured bodies of a missing camper and an college boy are discovered. The Vineyards must fight for their lives as the horrifying answer reveals itself in a shocking and tragic conclusion.
