Stephen Moyer screencaps: Shots Fired Season 1 Hour 5: Before The Storm

Tonight we saw Season 1 Hour 5 of Shots Fired titled, “Before the Storm”. Wow, what an action-packed and almost disturbing hour. The series is definitely hitting all the buttons on what’s going on in the US.  It may be controversial, but I say that’s good to wake us up to the reality out there.  Once again, I applaud the writers and all the cast for their superb work!

And, we learned a bit more about Lt. Calvert Breeland’s personality and his conflicts in his three major scenes.  First, his confrontation with Deputy Joshua Beck and at the end of the episode, the intimidation scene with Ashe Akino. The third scene showed a kinder and somewhat torn Lt. Breeland. There’s no doubt at all that Breeland is a very complicated character that I want to know more about.

  1. Explosive, powerful episode … the Breeland-Josh fight; Ashe being pulled over by a cop and her rough treatment, which ended with Breeland’s threatening comments about her custody difficulties; Alicia’s contemplating suicide; the auxiliary deputy ride alongs for “tours” of the Houses (that was scary); Cory’s id’ing Cox as Joey’s shooter; the suicide of the transferred officer; and Pastor Janae getting into Cox’s car. What’s up with that? Shawn’s short story about broke my heart.

We saw a kinder Breeland bringing dinner to his sheriff and offering his and his wife’s help. That was in stark contrast to the fight with Josh and his intimidation of Ashe. Agree … he is a complicated character, and Stephen plays him so well.
