FAN CREATIONS: Fan Art – meet our 3rd featured artist Bontemps8!

As our next featured Fan Artist, in our Fan Creations Section of AllStepheMoyer, we have chosen Billsbabe, Bontemps8.  See our special section devoted to her work and learn all about her here.

BT8 been an active contributor to our Fan Art section on the AllStephenMoyer forum where we have been impressed with her clever submissions, so we think she is a good choice to include as our next member of the Fan Art Creations section.

She was a freelance photographic artist in a ‘previous life’ but with the digital age she found herself having to reinvent her career and has since gone down a totally different path, but that doesn’t mean she stopped being creative..

She tells us: It is only in the last six or so months that my passion for True Blood has rekindled my interest and sparked a flood of creativity.  I use quite a few different programs to create my works, some being online and others standard photo editing techniques.”

BT8 explains how she first encountered Stephen Moyer: “I first came across Stephen when a young architect named Prioux left puddles of love on the Peruvian marble floor in Quills, leaving me in a puddle of admiration for his fine performance. It was not until some time later that his role as Richard Brazendale in Lilies gave me an inkling of what a versatile and talented person he is. I was hooked long before True Blood but it was difficult to find his works at the time. Then Bill walked into Merlottes and took our breath away. For me though, it was a little different. I literally watched the first episode three times before I was convinced that Stephen was playing the role of Bill.

That is the greatest testament to his acting abilities that I can think of as I could not recognise him as Bill, his southern drawl, dark smouldering looks and even darker attitude in that first episode, well and truly hiding the actor I knew. There is an old Rolling Stones song titled ‘It’s the singer not the song’ but in this case, it’s the whole package of talent and humility that has my admiration and inspires me.”

She is an avid Stephen Moyer fan who also writes fan fiction. She says to me: “Steve may have bought you back to life but inadvertently through him, his portrayal of Bill and this fantastic site, I have been motivated to write and although I may not be terribly eloquent, it has been a life long dream of mine that I never thought I would ever achieve.”

Stephen Moyer has certainly been an inspiration to Bontemps8, and here are some samples of her work:

Congratulations Bontemps8!

Natascha McElhone: Facing the Atlantic is a last wave from Bertie Portal to my late husband

Natascha McElhone wrote a wonderful and touching article that was published today in the Telegraph. The Californication actress talks about the crazy and courageous endeavor of Bertie and James to row the Atlantic to raise funds for Facing the World. Natascha’s late husband, surgeon Martin Kelly was co-founder of this British organization that provides free surgery for children with severe facial disfigurements.

Natascha, Bertie and Stephen Moyer all became friends in acting school and that’s were the basis was laid for the fundraising we are doing today for Facing the World.

From Natascha’s article:

I have just spoken to my great friend Bertie Portal while he was on a satellite phone, weathering a storm in the middle of the Atlantic. He came off the oars to talk while his friend and rowing partner James Cash took over. The two of them are battling against enormous waves in a tiny rowing boat in order to raise money for my late husband’s [the plastic surgeon Martin Kelly] charity, Facing the World.

I met Bertie at drama school: he’s a successful actor now, with both The King’s Speech and The Iron Lady recently completed. When I had started going out with my husband, I introduced the two of them. They clicked instantly, and soon took off on their own mad adventures, leaving me behind.

When Martin died in May 2008, aged just 43, Bertie stood at his graveside and said in his tribute that he wanted to “strive to do more”, to make a difference in the same way that Martin had done.

By that, he meant Martin’s charitable work. In 2001, Martin and another eminent surgeon, Norman Waterhouse, set up Facing The World to help children from the world’s poorest countries who had severe facial deformities and no way of obtaining surgery.

Bertie and James have already raised more than £350,000 for their endeavour, which dramatically changes the possibilities of what the charity can achieve and how many lives can be improved.

All of us gave Bertie small tokens before he set out. He has a beaded bracelet of Martin’s to wear as a sort of talisman. His mother had asked all her friends to write him a message so that he could read a new one each day that he was at sea.

His girlfriend, Sam Scott Thomas, supports him from afar, every stroke of the way. A friend’s son has a chart next to his bed following the course of their journey and ticks off each day they are at sea. Another friend sends him a riddle a day to figure out.

Martin is dead and cannot witness any of this, but this adventure feels like an amazing tribute to their friendship, a last wave from Bertie to him. Martin used to say: “It is said that as we get older, we get the face we deserve… let’s not make [the children] wait that long.”

Bill and Eric will have to learn to become friends in True Blood Season 5

Finally a spoiler about the love triangle between Sookie, Eric and Bill and straight from the mouth of one of the parties involved.

Alexander Skarsgard revealed to TVGuide:

“The feelings are still there for both Eric and Bill. The attraction is still there, but they’re preoccupied, and so is she.” Instead, look for Bill and Eric to team up while the vampire world begins to both expand and collapse in the coming season. “The guys have usually tried to kill each other and now suddenly have to learn to become friends and protect each other and work together.”

That sounds like Sookie will have her own troubles to deal with, while the boys step into the ring with the Authority.

Stephen Moyer Poses for the Cameras While Arriving at LAX Airport

All the Stephen Moyer fans have been wondering where he has been. He was expected to be seen at the Golden Globe events this past weekend, since it was reported that he would go to the BAFTA Tea Party, at the very least.  However, he didn’t attend that or any of the GG events.

Obviously, he was away on a trip. It’s great to see him appear to be in such a good mood as he smiles for the cameras when he arrives at LAX airport in Los Angeles, CA. today, January 17, 2012.

Rowing and Fundraising continues for the Facing the Atlantic Team

Facing the Atlantic team has oars to row with again and the tracking beacon is also working again. Bertie and James have been rowing like crazy and they have passed the point of no return at 38W, which means that they are half way and have the biggest part of the row behind them. Well done lads!

With only 30 nm to go it looks like the first 2 boats in the race will arrive in Barbados today. Solo rower (!) Andrew and due rowers Box Number 8 are fighting for the first place.

Fundraising continues and on SimplyMoyer.com you can win two posters signed by Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin, all you have to do is make a donation and you could be one of the lucky winners. Read all about it here.

Two more videos of Bertie and James were made available on the Talisker website. The first was taken shorty after they capsized and the second shows how they received oars from the support vessel Aurora.
